BEWILDERMENT
My neighbor was standing at the end of her driveway, holding an orange cat, and looking a little bewildered.
“Is this your cat?” she called.
“I don’t have a cat,” I called back.
“Do you know who it belongs to?” she called.
“No, but I’ve seen it around,” I answered.
“Well, this looks like my cat,” she said. “And I can’t find mine in the house. But I don’t know if this is my cat or not.”

Well, that raises many questions in my mind, like, how long has she had her cat? for starters. I know not all cats come when called, but she might have tried that. And so on.
